Jan 19, 2020 · 100% agree..the RX10 IV lens is much better than the 18-55 (which I own) and the 18-135 or the 16-80 (which I've used). For casual travel, I take the 18-55 and the 55-200 (plus the RX10 IV for longer reach).
Aug 21, 2020 · For starters, here`s a comparison to show the focal length field of view differences between 16 - 18 - 55 - 80 mm, to be followed by full-size straight-out-of-camera (SOOC) JPEGs and Capture One (C1) exported RAWs - both with "Manufacturer Profile" lens corrections, but no corrections as well, seeing how that influences corner/edge sharpness.
16-55: best if you need f2.8, best IQ, fast AF. 16-80: best if you need more reach. OIS. I haven't used the 16-80 so I can't compare but the 16-55 is one of Fuji's faster AF lenses. Good news is the 18-55 and 16-55 can be found used and maintain their value pretty well so if you find you aren't satisfied you can sell it again and try something

Jul 25, 2022 · Or you could pair this with the 16-55 (because the 16-80 is a horrible lens) and create an awesome two zoom combo with enough sharpness to cover the gap between 55 and 70mm. As I am finishing up my 100-400 & 150-600 reviews right now, I can confidently say that the 70-300 is my favorite XF telephoto lens.

It's heavier and bigger by some margin compared to the 18-55, and also more expensive. I've never shot with the 16-55, but that lens is useless for handheld video on the XT-3, which is one of the use cases I have for the 16-80 with its OIS. (3) I can't compare the 16-80 to the 18-135, either, but the 18-135 is known as a kind of weak performer.

May 18, 2021 · The first is a classic within the Fuji ecosystem, the 18-55mm f2.8-4.0 zoom lens, and the second option is the Fuji 16-80mm f4 R OIS WR. As a [former] travel blogger, I elected to purchase the Fujifilm 16-80. With a full-frame equivalent of 24-120, this lens is not a specialty for anything. But it is good enough for most things.
Thanks for your thoughts though! An X-S20 + Sigma 18-50 2.8 would probably be the best value you can get. Only compromise are the 2mm on the wide end. I mean, it's more to IQ than the range. Otherwise the 16-80 would give as crisp and sharp photos as the 16-55 given the same focal length and aperture, but it doesn't.
